Revising your weight loss surgery to a LAP-BAND may be easier than you think. The LAP-BAND over your bypass will allow you to kick start your weight loss again, and guess what -- the band is ADJUSTABLE. RNY bypass works by restriction, and fails when the the opening to the small bowel enlarges-- leaving you hungry all the time. To fix this surgeons have to go back in and stitch the opening up -- leaving you again with an opening that can enlarge. Today we offer the BAND over the bypass. This allows you to lose weight again, and allows us to adjust the opening of the stoma allowing you to feel full with less. The other way the bypass fails is if the pouch becomes enlarged. To fix this surgeons would have to go back in and remove more stomach -- more staples, and a higher operative risk. Today, we simply put a band on. Had a duodenal switch and find that your weight loss isn't what it should have been? The answer isn't more malabsorption -- the answer is placing a band over the stomach portion -- this allows you to feel full with less, and get to your weight loss goals. Malabsorption is a "quick fix," that leaves you still malabsorbing calcium, iron, and other nutrients, and over time the malabsorption stops working for carbohydrates -- leaving many with a return of excess weight. We have placed a number of bands over patients who have had the duodenal switch operation, allowing patients to have a second chance -- to restart their weight loss. More patients are getting the Sleeve Gastrectomy -- an operation we have become familiar with over the years. Having done a number of these operations, laparoscopically, we saw these patients loose weight, and later, after several years, regain the weight they lost. What happened? The stomach stretched, and when we placed a band over it, we found that it was the original size. The band over the Sleeve has allowed these patients to regain momentum in their weight loss. Stoma-Fix, has been touted as a non-invasive manner, but long-term results are not available. It is concerning that when surgery fails, that the same process, even if less invasive, would work any better. With all weight loss operations, one has to learn how to use the operation for weight loss. We understand the band, as well as other operations. Let us help you get a second chance with your weight loss operation -- with the LAP-BAND. |

The other operations, RNY and DS, do not have an ability to adjust. The LAP-BAND does. We are revising more and more patients from other operations to the LAP BAND with great results. |
