Our support group has been active for years in the valley. Dr. Simpson or his nutritionist attend over 95% of all support groups -- so if you have a question you can ask them directly. This also includes our featured holiday party at Phoenix Country Club. (d) Personal email address of the surgeon. How many surgeons do you have the email address for and can contact him/her with a question at anytime? This is not something special, this is the way we run our practice -- because we feel there is no "silly" question, and we want you to feel comfortable that you can contact your surgeon at anytime with almost any question. Many patients can have their financing in place before they come to our office, but for qualified patients we have had approvals generated before their surgical consultation was complete. When can you get your band after your approval -- sometimes as little as two weeks. Why? Because we want to get you started on your journey. Some patients will be required to see a cardiologist, sleep physician, or have other tests prior to scheduling surgery, but it you are otherwise healthy the chances are we can schedule you soon - those tests are typically covered by insurance. Routine tests before surgery are covered in your cost. "The best investment I ever made." There is no better investment than in your own body. Is there a price you can put on feeling better? What is a better investment than your health? We accept most insurance plans, and can help you negotiate the complex requirements your insurance company may have. But too often insurance companies have exclusions to weight loss surgery, or to the band. The latest requirement that insurance companies are asking for is FIVE years of medical records proving that you have been morbidly obese for that entire time. Because of this and a number of other reasons a number of patients have determined that they do not wish to wait to start on their journey to better health. While we want you to use your insurance if you can, but we feel it is foolish if you have to gain 20 pounds or more just to get the operation. We also think it silly that you remain clinically medically obese for years and suffer the consequences of the excess weight in order to have insurance pay for your band. What is aftercare? Aftercare is more than having your band adjusted. Aftercare means you will have a team of people dedicated to your success, not just a 1-800 number, but a real team. Having your band adjusted (filled) is a simple procedure done in the office -- BY THE SURGEON. We use this opportunity to help you use your band effectively. In fact, our workbook is used by support groups throughout the country for their patients. Because our practice is built around the band, you won't get information meant for a bypass patient. Imagine being able to get a hold of a surgeon with simple email. Imagine a practice where you can get an appointment quickly to get an adjustment to your band. Financing Credit Cards—You may be able to take advantage of some low rates that are available with many credit cards. Credit cards are often as easy to qualify for as a loan; in addition, many credit card companies offer flexible payments and faster decisions. Please keep in mind, however, that they may not offer a credit line large enough to cover the procedure and interest rates are subject to change. Loans—Options include home equity, secured, unsecured, and combination loans from a financial institution such as a bank or a credit union. Loan approval and eligibility will usually be based on the credit worthiness of the borrower. Lenders often take into consideration credit rating, current earnings, assets, and future assessments. Multiple borrowers increase the likelihood of loan approval. This means that you may consider asking a loved one to co-sign or to apply for the loan on your behalf. Monthly payment will vary based on the term of the loan and the interest rate. If you borrowed $10,000 towards your procedure at an interest rate of 10 percent over 5 years, then your monthly payment would be $21.25 per $1,000 x 10 equaling a mere $212.50 per month. This is far less than an average car payment! |
